Raccoglie polvere e il problema \u00e8 rimuoverla.&#8221;<br \/>\nC&#8217;era un giovane in cucina, Hui-Neng, che non sapeva n\u00e8 leggere n\u00e8 scrivere, ma al quale fu letta tale poesia e disse: &#8220;Oh, potrei scrivere una poesia migliore di questa, ma non so scrivere.&#8221; Allora gli domandarono di dirla e lui lo fece. La scrissero e diceva: &#8220;Dov&#8217;\u00e8 lo specchio? Dov&#8217;\u00e8 la polvere?&#8221; Fu cos\u00ec che divent\u00f2 il sesto patriarca.<br \/>\nQualche secolo pi\u00f9 avanti in Giappone c&#8217;era un monaco che faceva sempre il bagno. Un giovane studente gli chiese: &#8220;Se non c&#8217;\u00e8 polvere, perch\u00e9 fai sempre il bagno?&#8221; E l&#8217;anziano monaco rispose: &#8220;\u00c8 solo un tuffo, nessun perch\u00e9.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: right;\">(John Cage da <em>The Aesthetics of John Cage, a composite interview<\/em>, di Richard Kostelanetz, 1987)<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: right;\"><em> When the sixth patriarch of Zen Buddhism was being chosen, the fifth one arranged a poetry contest, and each one had to tell his understanding of enlightenment.<br \/>\nThe oldest monk in the monastery said: &#8220;The mind is like a mirror. It collects dust and the problem is to remove the dust.&#8221;<br \/>\nThere was a young fellow in the kitchen, Hui-Neng, who couldn&#8217;t read and couldn&#8217;t write, but had this poem read to him and said: &#8220;Oh, I could write a much better poem, but I can&#8217;t write.&#8221; And so they asked him to say it and he did; and they wrote it and his was: &#8220;Where is the mirror and where is the dust?&#8221; He became the sixth patriarch.<br \/>\nNow several centuries later in Japan there was a monk who was always taking baths.
